1st Corinthians 5
1 It is notoriously reported that there is sexual depravity (and
uncleanness) among you, and such (sexual) uncleanness as is not
so much as named among the heathen (which are outside of our fellowship
in Christ), that one should have his father's wife.
2 And you are puffed up (by your carnal minds) and have not so much
as grieved, that he that has done this work (born from the flesh)
might be removed from (fellowshipping) among you.
3 For I certainly, though I am absent in body, but present in (the)
spirit (of the doctrine I have declared to you), have already judged
(this work not fitting for those who are called saints), as though I
were present, concerning him that has done this work (of the flesh),
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, and
my spirit (which judges) by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5 To deliver such a one (over) to Satan (giving them over to the
lust in their own heart) for the destruction of the flesh, so that the
spirit may (repent and they) be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus (return).
6 Your glorying (in this uncleanness) is not good (this persuasion
does not come from Him who called you). Do you not know that a little
leaven leavens the whole lump?
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven (that was corrupted by death),
that you may be a new lump (that walks in newness of life), as you
are unleavened (free from death). Since Christ the Passover (lamb)
has been sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the (Passover) feast, not with old leaven (tainted
with corruption), neither with the leaven (that produces) ill
intent and wickedness (and false doctrines that would be a spot or
blemish on your love feasts); but with the unleavened bread of sincerity
and truth (that is pure and undefiled by death).
9 I wrote to you in a letter not to (keep) fellowship with
fornicators (those who lead sexually depraved lifestyles not fitting of
saints):
10 Yet (my intention was) not altogether (that you have no
communication at all) with the fornicators of this world, or with the
covetous (who are greedy for gain), or extortionists (ravenous,
swindlers), or with idolaters (who run after other gods); because
you still need to go out into the world (and interact).
11 But now I have written to you not to keep fellowship (with, walking
and sharing your lives with them) if any man that is called a brother (as
if they be in the faith) be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater (who
make for themselves other gods), or a slanderer (of God or man),
or a drunkard, or an extortionist; with such a one do not eat.
12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are outside (of the
faith)? Do you not judge them that are within (your fellowship)?
