John 2

And on the third day (after Jesus was baptized into the death of the world) there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there:

And both Jesus and His disciples were also invited to the marriage feast.

And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, they have no more wine.

Jesus said to her, Woman, what (business) have I to do with you? (don’t you know that I must be about My Father's business?) And My hour has not yet come.

His mother said to the servants, whatever He says to you, do it.

And there were set there six large water pots (earthen vessels) made of stone, that the Jews used to ceremonially wash their hands before eating, and they contained eighteen to twenty-seven gallons each.

Jesus said to them, Fill the water pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim with water.

And then He said to them, draw it out and bring it to the governor who is presiding over the feast. And they did as He said.

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made into wine, not knowing from where it came: {but the servants who drew the water knew} the governor of the feast called for the bridegroom,

And said to him, it is customary for every man at the beginning of a feast to put out the best wine first; and when men have had plenty to drink, then that which is of lesser quality: but you have kept the best wine until now.

This was the beginning of the (signs, wonders, and) miracles that Jesus performed, starting in Cana of Galilee, and all pointing to the glory that would be revealed in Him, and persuading His disciples to believe upon Him.

After this He traveled to Capernaum, He, and His mother, and His brothers, and His disciples: and they continued there just a few days.

And the Jew’s Passover, (celebrating how death had passed over them in Egypt), was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

And He found in the temple those who sold the oxen and sheep and doves used for sacrifice, and the money changers there as well:

And when He had made a whip of small rope from dry grass, He drove them all out of the temple (that were making merchandise of men), along with the sheep, and the oxen, spilling out the money changer’s, and overthrowing their tables,

And He said to them that were selling doves to the poor, take these things from here; for My Father's house is not a house of merchandise (nor is the gift of God something which can be purchased).

And His disciples remembered that it was written (in the Psalms); the jealousy which the Father has over our lives (to preserve them eternally) abides in Him, the passionate desire for the Father's house (to be a house pure and undefiled by death), has consumed Him.

Then the Jews answered saying to Him, what sign will show you to us, that gives you authority to do these things?

Jesus answered and said to them, (here is the only sign you will be given) destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.

Then the Jews said, it took forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?

But Jesus spoke of the temple of His body (being broken at the cross and raised up in the resurrection and that He had authority and dominion over all flesh to purge them from death and raise them unto life).

So that when He was risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them; and they were persuaded (that the spirit) of all scripture (was concerning Him), believing upon the word which Jesus had spoken.

Now during the time when He was in Jerusalem for the Passover on the feast day, many believed in Him, that He had come from God, for they saw the (signs, wonders, and) miracles which He performed (in His Father’s name).

But Jesus did not (commit or) trust His life to the care of men (but only into the Father’s hands), because the Lord knew all men’s hearts (and that death was reigning over them).

And (He) did not need anyone to testify concerning them; because He knew (it was death tormenting, molesting, and animating) men’s hearts (and lives).
