Mark 16
1 And when the sabbath
day was past, Mary Magdalene,
and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, so that
they might come and anoint Him.
2 And very early in the morning on the first
day of the week, they came to the tomb at the rising of the sun.
3 And they said among themselves, Who shall
roll away the stone
for
us from the door of the tomb?
4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone
was rolled away: for it was very great.
5 And entering into the tomb, they saw a young
man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they
were afraid.
6 And he said to them, Do not be afraid: You
seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: He is risen; He is not here:
behold the place where they laid Him.
7 But go on your way, tell His disciples and
Peter that He goes before you into Galilee: there shall you see Him, as He
said to you.
8 And they went out quickly and fled from the
tomb; for they trembled and were amazed: neither did they say anything to
any man; for they were afraid.
9 Now when Jesus had risen early the first day
of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast
seven devils.
10 And she went and told them that had (followed and) been with Him, as
they mourned and wept.
11 And they, when they had heard that He was
alive, and had been seen by her, did not believe it.
12 After that He appeared in another form (so that their eyes were held back, that they should
not know Him) to two of them, as they walked, and went into
the country.
13 And they went and told it to the rest (of the disciples): neither did they
believe them.
14 Afterward He appeared to the eleven as they
reclined at dinner and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of (their) heart, because they did
not believe them who had seen Him after He was risen.
15 And He said to them, Go into all the world (not only to the house of Israel),
and preach the gospel to every creature (to the Jew
and also to the heathen).
16 Whoever believes (Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God)
and is baptized (being
planted with Him in the likeness of His death) will be saved (raised in the likeness of His resurrection),
but whoever does not believe shall remain condemned (to perish in their body of death).
17 And these signs shall follow them that
believe (that all power is given unto Me in heaven and
on earth and I have the keys of death and the grave);
In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents (unharmed); and if they drink
anything deadly, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick,
and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken to them,
He was received up into heaven and sat
down
on the right hand of God (the
right hand of the Majesty on high).
20 And they went out, and preached everywhere,
the Lord (Jesus) working with them,
and confirming the word with signs (wonders and
miracles) following (them).
Amen.
