Timothy 1
Paul, (called to be) an apostle of Jesus Christ according to the command of God the Savior, and (the gospel of) our Lord Jesus Christ (which was committed to me), which is the certain hope of (His life in) us;
Timothy
To Timothy, my true son in the faith: (May the) Grace, mercy, and peace, (that has come) from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord (be with you).
Just like I urged you to remain in Ephesus when I was going on to Macedonia, so that you might warn certain men not to teach any other doctrines (other than Christ and Him crucified, which I have clearly set forth among them),
Neither give regard (or devote any attention) to any (Jewish) fables and endless genealogies (according to the flesh), which (contain no power to minister His life but) only serve to bring about meaningless (speculation) questions (and debate), rather than godly edifying which is (only found) in the faith (of Jesus Christ): so (continue to) do (the same everywhere you go).
Now the end of the commandment (to abide in Him) is love (that flows) out of a pure heart (which is one that sees the Father has only ever desired to serve you with His life, where you lack no good thing), and from a good conscience (persuaded that the One who promised is also able to preserve your lives unto immortality in your flesh), which is undisguised (and put on full display) in the faith (of Jesus Christ).
From which some, having swerved (from the faith, have missed the mark) and turned aside instead to meaningless discourse;
Desiring to be teachers of the law, although they are without any understanding about what they say or the things they (confidently) assert.
But we know that the law is good as long as one makes use of it (according to the spirit and truth contained in it) lawfully (and not lawlessly through the carnal mind),
Knowing this, that the law is not (and was not) made for a righteous man (who has ceased from his own work seeing the Father’s work is sufficient and able to serve him with His life and immortality), but rather for the lawless (who transgress the law by seeking to obtain that life through the works of their own hands) and the disobedient (who refuse to be persuaded by the work which God has done in Christ Jesus), for the ungodly and for those laboring to preserve their own life, for unholy and profane (that are experiencing the fruit of death), for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, and murderers of all men,
For fornicators, for them that defile themselves with (idolatry, seeking the pleasures they can obtain from) mankind, for (kidnappers and) slave owners, for liars, for perjured persons (who swears falsely against another), and if there be any other thing that (brings forth the fruit of death and) is contrary to sound doctrine (for those who are without understanding and are still ignorant that the word contained in the law spoke of God’s righteousness toward them, to provide Himself the lamb that would cleanse them from death);
(Which word is) according to (the same spirit and truth of) the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
And I am filled with thankfulness (giving all glory) to Christ Jesus our Lord, the One who strengthens me, because He has considered me a trustworthy messenger (of the faith, grace, and love of God for all people), (in that He appointed me) putting me into the ministry;
Who was formerly one that spoke slanderously and abusively (against those of the faith) and was a persecutor (that hunted them down) with intent to injury (them with violence): but I found (that the Father was filled with) mercy (toward me), because I did these things being ignorant (of the truth) in unbelief.
Then (the scales fell from my eyes when) the grace (and kindness) of our Lord super abounded (toward me) with the faith and love that are found in Christ Jesus.
Trustworthy (and free from any doubt) is the saying that is filled (with the faith that came from the Father’s heart) full of all approval, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save those who were perishing and missing the mark (the Father had set for their lives of His life and immortality in their flesh, who being filled with lust to produce the fruit of God’s life by their own works, instead brought forth the fruit of death and every evil work); of whom I (being once filled with that lust) was the chief.
But for this reason was I shown (to have received His) mercy so that in me, (who was) the chief, Jesus Christ might show forth (His) perfect patience as an example for those who would hereafter (see His mercy and long suffering toward them and) believe on Him to a life without end.
Now unto (Christ Jesus) the King (of glory) the eternal immortal One, (in Whom dwells the fullness of the Father) the invisible and only God, be all honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
This charge (that no one preach any other doctrine, but Christ crucified, which) I have committed to you, Timothy, my son (in the faith), is according to the prophecies which have gone before you (and I), so that through (the truth contained in) those prophecies, you might wage a good warfare (against every false doctrine);
Holding the faith (of Christ, who is the head which contains all the nourishment), and (brings forth) a good conscience (toward God), which some having (willfully rejected and) thrust it away (from themselves) have made a shipwreck concerning the faith:
Among whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander; who I have given over to (the persuasion in their own hearts and to the fruit that the doctrine of) Satan (and his demons serves them), so that they might learn (firsthand) not to speak abusively against (rejecting the faith as) the way that leads to (an incorruptible) life (forever free from the sting of death, seeing their persuasion only serves them with the fruit of death).
