2 Thessalonians 1
1 Paul, and Silas, and Timothy, to the church of the
Thessalonians who are kept (from death’s accusation) by
God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 (His) Grace (and strength) unto you,
and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We are compelled to thank God for you always,
brethren, as it is fitting (of thanksgiving), because the faith (of
Him) is growing (and working) in you exceedingly, and (has
manifested in you) abundantly in the love every one of you has toward
each other;
4 So (much so) that we ourselves glory in you
in all the churches of God (around the world) for your patience and
faith in (the midst of) all the persecutions and tribulations that
you endure (which are a testimony that gives glory to God):
5 A visible proof of the righteous judgment of God (to
serve you with all the fruit of His life), so that you may be seen in (the
image of) the life (He) deemed fitting of the kingdom
of God, for which you also (now) suffer:
6 If indeed it is a righteous thing with God to recompense affliction to
that which afflicts you.
7 And (give) to you who are afflicted, rest (along)
with us, (then) when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven
with His mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire (of His light and life)
taking vengeance (and delivering justice) on (and against the
death that afflicted all His beloved including) them that know not God,
and that were disobedient (refusing to be persuaded) of the gospel of
our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who will be (expecting to be) punished (and
not rewarded, and will to His displeasure run) with (fear
to)
everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory
of His power;
10 When He shall come to (glorify and) be
glorified inside of His saints (those who have called upon the name of
the Lord), and to be marveled among all that believe (who will be
awestruck at His glory) {because the testimony (of Christ) was
believed among you} in that day (when the Lord comes to glorify His
beloved).
11 Therefore also we pray always for you, that (you
know with certainty that) God (our Father) deemed you worthy of
the calling (of His life and immortality), and (He by His strength
alone will) fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work
of faith (you have seen and believed in the faith of Jesus Christ)
with power:
12 So that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be
glorified in you (formed in your hearts), and you in Him, according
to the grace (and strength) of our God and (Father unto the same
life and likeness as) the Lord Jesus Christ.
