2 Thessalonians 2
1 But we exhort you, brethren, (that) by (looking
to the sure hope of) the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our
being gathering together (as One immortal) to Him,
2 That you are not soon shaken in your mind, or
troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as if (supposedly)
from us, (but find rest in the certainty of His life) as (you see)
that the day of Christ (is approaching and) in sight.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day
will not come, except there first come a departure from the faith (of
Jesus Christ and the truth revealed in Him), and the man of iniquity (and
lawlessness) be revealed, the son of perdition (whose life is born
from destruction);
4 Who opposes (Christ) and exalts himself
above (the only true God and) all that is called God, or that is
worshipped (as God); so that he (alone) might sit as God in
the temple (and the church) of God, showing himself (publicly)
that he is God.
5 Do you not remember that, when I was still there
with you, I told you about these things?
6 And now you know what withholds (that day)
that he might be revealed in his time.
7 Because the mystery of iniquity is already working
(lawlessness in the world): only (secretly) until the One who
restrains be taken out of the way (caught up from out of the midst).
8 And then will the lawlessness (that is full of
iniquity) be revealed (openly), which the Lord Jesus will consume
with the breath of His mouth, and (He) will (completely annul and)
abolish (the last enemy death) with the brightness of His (life
and glory) coming (to gather His beloved and join heaven and earth
together immortal):
9 Even the one whose coming is according to the
working (and doctrines) of Satan (that are filled) with all
power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And (come) with every deception that works
unrighteousness (and injustice) in (the hearts of) them that
perish because they have rejected (and have exchanged) the love of
the truth (for a lie), so that they might be saved (from all the
injustice of iniquity and death).
11 And for this reason (they perish because)
God (has judged that iniquity) will send them strong delusion, so
that they should believe a lie:
12 And so that (iniquity would be revealed and
judged as the thing that brings the death and condemnation to the hearts of)
all those who believed not the truth but had pleasure in (iniquity which
serves them with the) injustice (of perishing in the second death).
13 But we are bound (and grateful) to render
thanksgiving always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because (this
is the life which) God has chosen for you from the beginning unto
salvation (from death) through the sanctification of the Spirit (of
life) and belief of the truth (through the faith of Jesus Christ):
14 To this life has He also called you through our
gospel, unto the obtaining of the (same) glory (and immortality)
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand firm (in the faith
of Christ Jesus), and hold fast to the things we have passed on to you (which
we have received from the Lord) which you have been taught (by us),
whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Now the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, the
Father of us all, who has loved us, and has given us everlasting consolation
and (the) good (and the sure) hope (to appear in the
likeness of His life) through (His) grace (and strength),
17 May He comfort (and encourage) your heart
and firmly establish you with every good word and (good) work (which
He has done).
