John 8
1 Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people
came to Him, and He sat down and taught them (the things concerning
Himself from the law and the prophets).
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery;
and when they had set her in the midst (of them),
4 They said to Him, Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of
adultery.
5 Now Moses commanded in the law that such (a man or woman) should
be stoned to death: but what do you say?
6 They said this, tempting Him, (if He would break the law of Moses or at
least their carnal erroneous understanding of it, for they knew Jesus’ own
teaching was that He did not come to condemn anyone to death), so that
they might have grounds to accuse Him. But Jesus (without answering them)
stooped down and began to write with His finger on the stone pavement (signifying
how the very law they asked Him about was written on stone with His finger,
the finger of God), as though He had not heard them.
7 So when they continued asking Him, He lifted Himself up and said to them (in accordance with the law), the one among you (witnesses) standing here that (is blameless without accusation and) has never trespassed (the law), let him cast the first stone at her.
8
And again He stooped down and wrote on the stone pavement (signifying how
God wrote the law on stone a second time after all the people had committed
the true adultery which the law spoke of when they made themselves another
god, the golden calf).
9 And when those who accused her heard this, being convicted by their
own (hearts and) conscience (which all who try to justify
themselves unto life by the works of their own hand will experience),
left one by one, beginning with the oldest, even to the last: and Jesus was
left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted Himself up, He saw (that the word He had spoken
removed all accusation, just as it would when He was raised up in the
resurrection, removing the death that all its days had accused man that they
were not the children of God and) that there were no more accusers but
only the woman, He said to her, Woman, where are your accusers? has any man
condemned you (to death)?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said to her, neither do I condemn you (to
death), (which death formerly accused you of being an orphan in the
earth who must father their own life and the fruit thereof): Go (knowing
that the accusation that death brought never came from the Father, who is
ever with you and only desires to shepherd you with His life
where you) rest (in Him) from all your labors to establish your
own life (where you sin more).
12 Then Jesus spoke again to them saying, I AM the light (that gives life)
to the world (a lamp unto their feet and a light unto their way), he
that follows after Me (even should he be surrounded by the death and
corruption in the world) he will never walk in darkness because he will
have the light of (eternal) life in him.
13 The Pharisees said to Him, you bear record of yourself; therefore, your
record is not true.
14 Jesus answered and said to them, Though I bear record of Myself, yet My
record is true: because I know from where I came, and where I go (both
being the Father); but you cannot recognize from where I come, and where
I go.
15 You judge (outwardly) after the flesh; I judge no man (outwardly
after the flesh).
16 And yet if I judge, My judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and
the Father that sent Me (are One).
17 It is also written in your law (the law which you say you adhere),
that the testimony of two men is true.
18 I am One that bears witness of Myself, and the Father that sent Me bears
witness of Me.
19 Then they said to Him, Where is your Father? Jesus answered, you neither
know Me nor My Father: if you had known Me, you should have known My Father
also (for if you have seen Me, you have seen the Father).
20 Jesus spoke these words in the treasury, as He taught in the temple: and
no man laid hands on Him; for His hour had not yet come.
21 Then Jesus said again to them, I go My way (unto eternal life which is
in the Father and the Son), and you will seek Me, but will die in your
own way (that perishes in death): where I go, you are not able to
come (because you will not come to Me so that you may live).
22 Then the Jews said, Will He kill himself? because He said, Where I go,
you cannot come.
23 And He said to them, you are from beneath, (earthy, drawing
your strength from that which perishes); I am from above (the Lord
from heaven): you are of this world (born from the corrupt
wisdom which the serpent has planted in the earth); I am not of this
world (but from above).
24 This is why I said to you, that you will perish in your own way (which
is by the strength of your own hand to preserve your life) that leads to
death: because you do not believe that I am He that can save you from the
death that is reigning over you, you will perish in that death.
25 Then they said to Him, Who are you? (Tell us plainly) And Jesus
said to them, (I AM) even the same which I said to you from
the beginning.
26 I have many things to say and to judge of you (concerning the way unto
life and unto death): but the One who sent Me is true (and His
judgments are unconcealed), and I speak to the world those things which
I have heard from Him.
27 They did not understand that He spoke to them of the Father.
28 Then Jesus said to them, when you have lifted up the Son of man (on
the cross), then will you know that I am He and that I do nothing of
Myself; but as My Father has taught Me, I speak these things.
29 And He that sent Me is (ever) with Me: The Father has not left Me
alone; for I always do the things (that reveal Him as Father) which
please Him.
30 As He spoke these words, many believed on Him.
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed on Him, if you abide in My
word (which is full of power to father you unto an endless life) and
that word abides in your heart, then you are most certainly My disciples (fellowshipping
in the same life);
32 And you will know the truth (that God is with you desiring to be a
Father to you and He has sent away your death, removing the fear from your
hearts, where you were always laboring to prove that you were sons, but now
He has justified you from that accusation in revealing you to be His son’s)
and the truth will set you free (from the bondage death has kept you in
all your days, where you can freely allow Him to father you with His life
and immortality).
33 They answered Him, we are Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to
anyone: how can you say, we will be made free?
34 Jesus answered them, with absolute certainty, I say unto you, Whoever
goes about to father their own life is the servant (in bondage) to (the
sting of death that it serves them with) sin.
35 And the servant (not being an heir) does not abide in the house;
forever: but the Son (who is the heir of all things, lives and)
abides, forever in the house (where the Father serves Him with His life
as an inheritance).
36
If the Son (who is the heir of the world) therefore will make you
free (from the bondage of death, where you labored like an orphan to
establish your life), you will be truly free (to be fathered by His
life and inheritance as a son).
37 I know that you are Abraham's seed (according to the flesh); but
you seek to kill Me because My word (concerning the Father) has no
place in you (where you allow it to father your life).
38 I speak that which I have seen with My Father (in heaven above):
and you do that which you have seen with your father (in the world).
39 They answered and said to Him, Abraham is our father. Jesus said to them,
if you were Abraham's children, you would do the work of (believing in
the promised seed like) Abraham (which seed I am).
40 But instead you seek to kill Me, a man that has only told you the truth,
which I have (seen and) heard (and declare) from the Father:
this is not what Abraham did.
41 You do the deeds of your father (the devil, the prince of this world).
Then they said to Him, we are not (illegitimate children) born in
fornication (with other gods); we have one Father, even God.
42 Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love Me: for I
proceeded forth from (the heart of) God (Himself); neither did
I come of Myself, but He sent Me (to reveal Himself as Father).
43 Why do you not understand the things I say? It is because you cannot even
hear My word (for you do not know God as Father or recognize His voice).
44 You are born from (and do fornicate with) your father the devil (marked
by the beast) and the lusts of your father are the works you are
animated to do (being intimate with the works of your own hands). He
was a (destroyer and) murderer from the beginning and remained not in
the truth (but left his first habitation) because there is no truth
in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own (corrupt logic):
for he is a liar, and the father (and the originator) of all lies (him
do you hear).
45 And now because I speak the truth (from the Father), you do not (hear
Me neither do you) believe Me.
46 Which of you can prove Me guilty of walking out of the way (and the
will of My Father)? And if (then) I speak the truth (that
reveals the heart of the Father), why do you not believe Me?
47 He who is (born) of God hears God's words (and recognizes His
voice): you therefore do not hear them because you are not (born)
of God (seeing Him as the Father who shepherds with His life).
48 Then the Jews answered, and said to Him, is it not true that you are a
Samaritan (one who is not a pure Jew but an enemy from a mixed
race), and you have a demon (spirit that dishonors God)?
49 Jesus answered, I do not have a demon (spirit that dishonors God);
but I (bring glory and) honor (to) My Father, and you do
dishonor Me (the One who has come in the Father’s name).
50 And I do not seek My own glory: there is One that seeks (to glorify Me)
and (in doing so speaks a word that) judges (the way unto
eternal life).
51 With absolute certainty I say to you, if any man abides in My word (which
word the Father has testified about him in the Son), he shall never see
death (but will share in His life without end).
52 Then the Jews said to Him, now we know that you have a demon. Abraham is
dead, and the prophets as well, but you say, if a man abide in My word, he
shall never taste of death.
53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets (who)
are also dead: who do you make yourself out to be?
54 Jesus answered, If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing: it is My Father
who honors and glorifies Me; of whom you say, that He is your God:
55 Yet you have not known Him (as your Father), but I know Him: and
if I said, I do not know Him, I would be a liar, like you: but I know Him,
abiding only in the words that He speaks (which words are spirit and life
which live and abide forever).
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day (the day when God would
provide Himself the lamb for the conquering of death): and he saw it and
was glad.
57 Then the Jews said to Him, you are not yet fifty years old, and have you
seen Abraham?
58 Jesus said to them, with absolute certainty, I say to you, Before Abraham was, I AM.
59
Then they took up stones to cast at Him: but Jesus hid Himself, and went out
of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passing right by
them.
