Romans 15
1 Now we who are strong (in faith) ought to
bear (and consider) the weaknesses of the weaker (brother),
and not (seek) to please ourselves.
2 Let every one of us (who is strong seek to)
please his (weaker) neighbor for that which is good unto his
edification.
3 For even Christ did not please Himself; but, as it
is written, (for Your sake O God I have borne reproach) The
reproaches of them that reproached You fell on Me (so that those whose
hope is in You would not ever be ashamed).
4 For whatever things were written aforetime were
written for our learning, so that we through patience and comfort of the
scriptures might have hope (in Christ in whom they spoke).
5 Now (may) the God of patience (who
strengthens us to endure) and (gives) consolation (and
encouragement) grant you to be like-minded one toward another according
to (the faith of) Christ Jesus (our Lord):
6 So that you may with one mind and one mouth
glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 Therefore, receive one another, as Christ also
received us (when we were weak and without strength) to the glory of
God.
8 Now I say that Jesus Christ has come (into the
world) a minister of (the Jews) the circumcision, to declare the
truth of God, to confirm (and fulfill) the promises given to the
fathers:
9 And so that the Gentiles might (also)
glorify God for His mercy, as it is written, For this reason I will praise
you among the Gentiles (and all nations), and sing (praises)
to your name.
10 And again He said, Rejoice, you Gentiles, with
His people.
11 And again, Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles; and
praise Him, all people (accepted from every race and every nation).
12 And again, Isaiah said, There shall be a root of
Jesse (and a branch shall grow out of its roots), and He that shall
rise to reign over the Gentiles; in Him shall the Gentiles trust.
13 Now (may) the God of hope fill you with
all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in (the sure)
hope, (of His life and immortality) through the power of the Holy
Ghost.
14 And (though I admonish) I myself also am
persuaded of you, my brothers, that you also are full of goodness, filled
with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.
15 Nevertheless, brothers, I have written more
boldly to you in part, to remind you (of all these things), because
of the grace that is given to me from God,
16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to
the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, so that the offering of the
Gentiles might (result in their obedience to the faith, worship that is
holy and) acceptable (to God), being sanctified by the Holy
Ghost.
17 Therefore, my boasting is (only) in Christ
Jesus in those things which pertain to God.
18 For I do not dare to speak of any of those things
except that which Christ has worked through me, to make the Gentiles
obedient (to the faith), by word and deed,
19 Through mighty signs and wonders, (wrought)
by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and all round to
Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
20 Yes, so have I endeavored to preach the gospel,
not where Christ was (already) named, lest I should build on another
man's foundation:
21 But as it is written (in Isaiah), To whom
He was not spoken of, they shall see (Him): and they that have never
heard (of Him) shall (hear and) understand.
22 For this reason also, I have been very hindered
from coming to (see) you.
23 But now having no more opportunity in these
parts, and having a great desire these many years to come to you;
24 Whenever I take my journey into Spain, I will
come (near) to you: for I hope to come see you in my journey, and to
pass by you on my way, (so that) I will first (stop and) enjoy
your company.
25 But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to
the saints.
26 For it has pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia
to make a certain contribution to the poor saints who are in Jerusalem.
27 It has truly pleased them to do it, and they are
indebted to them. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their
spiritual things, they ought also to minister to them in material things.
28 When therefore I have completed this, and have
delivered this fruit to them, I will come by you (on my way) into
Spain.
29 And I am sure that, when I come to you, I will
come (as I do) in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of
Christ.
30 Now I appeal to you, brothers, for the Lord Jesus
Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that you contend together
with me in your prayers to God for me;
31 That I may be delivered (unhindered) from
them that do not believe in Judaea; and so that my service which I have for
Jerusalem may be (delivered and) accepted by the saints;
32 So that I may come to you with joy by the will of
God and that I may, (in being) with you, be refreshed.
33 Now (may) the God of peace (which
brings rest) be with you all. Amen.
